Jesus comes for a visit. He walks through your front door. You’re overwhelmed by His glorious presence.
He sits at your table. You offer Him water; feeling silly as you do; since He’s Living water. He asks to see your children who are playing in the next room. As you enter, a sense of embarrassment consumes you. Not because of their rowdy playing; but because of the number of toys stuffed in toy bins and covering the floor; the toys they no longer play with that you’d intended to give to the less fortunate before Christmas. Your children run into Jesus’s arms. He blesses them; then leaves just as quickly as He entered. It was only a moment that He was there. You couldn’t remember His exact words. All you could remember were words He’d spoken to His disciples, “to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ (Matthew 25:40)
WHY didn’t I clean out this clutter before Christmas so other children could enjoy these toys; so moms could give their children a nice Christmas?
“It’s not too late,” a gentle voice nudged.
And, it’s not too late for US to do something good. Not everyone’s Christmas is “over.” Some are still traveling and shopping; meeting with friends and family to exchange gifts this week.
DO IT THIS SECOND. Don’t wait. Get up, grab a bag and fill it with toys your children no longer play with.
Put it in your car and drive it to the nearest donation center. There’s a mom shopping. There’s a child waiting.
