102 Date Night Ideas (includes printable list)

Ever since I started back to work, it felt like my husband and I were roommates. He went to work at 7:30 in the morning and took classes over his lunch hour. When he came home at five o’clock, I was already at work. We fell into the trap of not making our marriage a priority, over time our relationship began to crack. Suddenly things I used to find so cute about him became annoyances. When I growled at him for the way he chewed his food, we knew it was time to review our marriage life.  We knew we …

This devotional takes a look at the parents of the Bible: both the good and the bad and seeks to learn from the One who invented parenthood. Here is the book trailer.     So today, moms, if you are feeling overwhelmed…if you’re wondering where to turn for parenting advice…I would be honored if you …

Prayer Journals for the Whole Family

As we neared the end of our usual bed time routine of tucking kids in, reading stories, tucking kids back in, getting drinks, and finally tucking kids back into bed again–it was time to pray. As I asked my youngest what she wanted to pray for, Tori Grace responded in her 5 year-old wisdom, “It doesn’t matter mama, you can pray for me.”  Shocked, I said a simple prayer and tucked her in (fingers crossed she would stay in bed) before letting my imagination get away from me. No  sane mom could have let this unexpected grenade comment go. Pictures …

RENEWED: An Interview with Lucille Zimmerman + Monday M.O.M. Link-Up!

Overwhelmed. I’ve been speaking to women’s groups for more than two decades. And while fashions and American Idols and fad diets have changed over the years, this one thing has remained constant: When I ask women what they struggle with, day in and day out, their #1 answer is “I feel so overwhelmed!” So I fell in love with Lucille Zimmerman’s new book the moment I laid eyes on the cover. Renewed. Ahhhh…what an invitation! I spent two weeks enjoying Lucille’s stories, Biblical insights, and practical wisdom as I savored (and stuck Post-It Notes all over!) a chapter a day. …

We’re all in this together – A GIVEAWAY

*Don’t miss the giveaway at the end of this post. There are many ways to enter! I had a conversation with a mom a while ago that really made me think. She was worried about her two-year-old, who had become a picky eater. Frustrated with the meal-time battles and the fact that her toddler had just learned to say the word no, this mom threw her hands up and said, “My husband and I decided we’re failing as parents.” It broke my heart. Anybody who has had a two-year-old knows that these types of battles are totally normal. I understood …
