Why Mom Can’t Afford Not to Pray

Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  1Thessalonians 5:16-18 Our carefree family cruised towards disaster like the unsuspecting Titanic on its fateful night. Ten carefree eyes were unable to see the impending trials swirling under the ice-cold water rushing towards us. Then, all at once our family collided with the jagged edge of suffering. Broken pieces of marriage, serious illness and a loss of a precious life were left in its agonizing wake. Yet, deep within each icy wave the Lord tangibly sustained our exhausted household. Faithful …

Friends Helping Friends

Forever Friends is a favorite topic for my speaking audiences. I have skits in that talk to show what it means to have trusted and treasured friends and to be that kind of friend to others. Are you the kind of friend you long to have? Click To Tweet I am currently in a scheduling crunch with my writing and speaking ministry, but I had a blog post due today.  “Help!” was the subject line in an email to my good friend Kathy Howard. Kathy is a TMI guest contributor so I asked her if she could help me with …

Because Every Mom Needs a Break & a Chance to Win 2 Tickets to BETTER TOGETHER

There were moms and kids everywhere and I loved being in the midst of it all! It was Kid’s Fest in Orange Park and there was a flurry of activity was all around. Playgrounds, water games, face painting, train rides and so much more! It was a kid’s dream come true! It was fun! Fun! Fun! At least for the kiddos it was fun! And it was fun for the mommas too, but it was also hot and everyone was sweaty, and after a while, the kids became a little bit whiny… and for those moms with more than a couple …

Does Holiness Really Matter?

Today, I’m super excited to introduce you to my sweet friend, Kathy Howard! Kathy is an author of many books and her love for Jesus and for ministry is inspiring!  I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you about her newest book, Embraced by Holiness because, as moms and as ministry leaders, the need for holiness is huge! Little eyes are watching mommas…and if you’re a ministry leader, lots of eyes are watching you…they want to see how you act and react – so holiness needs to permeate every area of our lives. Two years ago, “Fifty Shades …

Becoming Momma K

I’m already “mom”.  Thanks to my daughter and son-in-love, I will be Momma K! The richness of the blessing of a grand son is beyond words in description. Often times words cannot convey what the heart feels. Conversation about how much we want to bless this little guy is regular between my husband and I. With sparkling eyes, the younger aunts and uncles make plans for play time with their nephew. I pray that God will bless me with a rich relationship with our grand son. Becoming Momma K is helping me become mom all over again. I’m seeing …

Throw A Birthday Party for Jesus

This week, I posted the above picture on my Facebook timeline and received many questions about the Birthday Bag for Jesus in front of the Christmas tree. At our house, that Birthday Bag is a reminder that we are celebrating the birthday of Jesus. This tradition started early in our marriage when we decided to throw a birthday party for Jesus. Since our anniversary is December 19th, it’s already a packed month for us, but we knew the Lord was prompting us to throw Him a party, and so we did. The first year, we invited a few family …

How Are You Celebrating National Grandparents Day?

Did you even know there’s a National Grandparents Day? I’ve been a Grammie for almost fifteen years and we’ve never acknowledged this special day in our family. When I told my daughter it was on September 8th this year, she laughed. I said: No, seriously there is a Grandparents Day. Her response: You aren’t expecting a gift are you? LOL! Have you been planning a celebration for your grandparents or your children’s grandparents? Admittedly, Grandparents Day certainly doesn’t get the recognition of Mothers Day or Fathers Day, but for those of us who are grandparents, we know what a blessing it …

Five Ways to Impact Your Children & Grandchildren with the Message of Easter

By Featured Guest: Kathy Howard   Rich memories of childhood Easters keep popping up in my mind. I can still feel the cold metal of the folding chair as I sat with my family in the church parking lot waiting for the first rays of the sun to make their appearance. And with the sun, the somber notes of “low in the grave He lay…” became the joyous thunder of “up from the grave He arose (He arose), with a mighty triumph o’er His foes.” After prayer and singing, everyone escaped the chilly air and enjoyed pancakes and sausage in …
