Christmas Traditions That Highlight Jesus’s Birth

Spread the love

We all have those tried and true family traditions that we do over the holidays. And those are great! But what if we added some traditions that focus more on Jesus’s birth and less on Santa Claus coming to town.

Here’s a few ideas that you can try to get your family focused on the real reason for the season:

1. Read Matthew 1:18-25 on Christmas Eve or on Christmas morning. Read it out loud to your children so that they will better understand the story of His birth.

2. Go see a live nativity scene in your local area. Maybe your own church puts on one. Bring Jesus’s birth alive in your children’s eyes. You’ve heard that saying, a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, a live nativity will mean that for your kids.

3. Get a group together to go caroling in a friendly neighborhood. There is nothing like singing with other believers those traditional Christmas carols about Jesus. My parents took me to do this a number of times as a child, and boy did it make an impact on me.

4. Attend a midnight church service on Christmas Eve. If your kids are old enough to stay awake, they will love the magic of this night. There is something truly majestic and holy about a late night service.

I hope you have a beautiful and special holiday season with your loved ones! May the joy of Jesus’s birth be alive in your heart.

Be Blessed,

AllisonD
