5 Ways to Make Saturdays Fun for Your Family

Spread the love

Do Saturdays seem saturated with chores and a long to-do list? Wish there was a way to make it fun for the family?

We’re moms, so we know how busy life can be, but making Saturdays special for the family is SO worth it! So lets be honest… if we are going to make Saturdays fun, we’re going to have to be intentional and we might just have to re-arrange our weekdays in order to get some of our errands done and get our shopping in during the week.

But I’d rather intentionally make time for fun with my family, then let the weekends slip by and miss out on memories that will last a lifetime.

How about you? Do you want to make Saturdays meaningful for your family?

Well, here are 5 things you can do this Saturday to make memories with your family and have some fun at the same time…

1. Draw your “Adventure for the Day” from a hat ~

Have each member of the family write out 2 or 3 places where they’d like to go and what they’d like to do. If they are too young to write, you can write it for them. Then put them all in a hat. Every Friday night (or Saturday morning), take turns drawing an “Adventure for Day” from the hat, pack the car and head out for a day of fun you won’t forget.

2. Go on an Art Day for All ~

Plan a trip to a local art museum; go to a local art class where you can make your own pottery, paint your own picture, create your own artwork; create a beautiful piece of art by using colored chalk on your driveway; go to a local acting class or theater; or to a concert.

3. Go on a Park Adventure ~

Map out several local parks, pack a picnic lunch, and visit 4 to 5 parks spending about an hour or so at each. Be prepared to have a blast with your kids because you will.

4. Pick an Activity ~

Bowling, skating, putt-putt, a movie, fishing, hiking, going to a water park, the beach, the lake, skiing… choose some of your family’s favorite things to do and just be like Nike’ and just do it.

5. Plan for Bad Weather Days ~

When the weather is bad and you can’t do any of the outdoor activities, you can have fun anyway. Build an indoor tent, have a movie day, game day, pop popcorn, cook fun food together…whatever your family likes to do, take some time and do it.
