A Statement of Faith You Can Teach Your Children

Soooo… I have a question…

Do you filter what you believe about social, cultural, and political issues through the Word of God – or are the social, cultural, and political issues of the day the filter you use to choose what to believe about the Word of God?

This past year we’ve had some interesting world events take place on the center stage of life. Things than can shake our faith or cause us to re-evaluate what we believe about God, His Word, and biblical principles.

  • World Vision came out with a statement that shook many to the core and Hobby Lobby faced a big battle for religious freedom.
  • Christians are being persecuted across the globe more than ever.
  • Christianity is under attack in the United States and around the world.
  • People don’t honor honor any longer.
  • Patriotism is frowned upon.
  • Corruption is rampant.
  • Bruce Jenner decided to become Caitlyn.
  • Hollywood has become more messed up than ever, expecting the world to embrace the very things God hates and that Jesus died for.
  • Church leaders are putting those in leadership who are openly engaged in blatant sin.
  • The lines of right from wrong have been intentionally blurred by the politically correct and the socially progressive.

Many call these things a debate Christians should not enter into. Others are letting the issues wreak havoc on their hearts, their testimonies, and the legacy of faith they long to leave to those who come behind them because they aren’t sure what they believe and why.

Issues that if not handled well will leave our children with a skewed view of truth.

But as someone who longs to leave a legacy of faith for the next generation and see our children and our grandchildren with the courage and faith that turns the world upside down for Christ, and the passion to trust what God says is true even if the world says it’s not.

And as someone who supports other ministries as well as funds a ministry that others support, we are living in times when Christian ministries need to place their belief system along side the Word of God and stand for what is right, even if it’s unpopular.

We aren’t judging those who disagree. There is only one Righteous Judge and He doesn’t hand us the gavel. But the Righteous Judge does tell us to judge righteous judgement, to stand for what is right and to choose Scripture and His principles of current cultural events – especially when it contradicts the Word of God. (James 4:12 John 17:24).

So, we want you to know what The M.O.M. Initiative believes so you know who we are, what we are about, and what you are supporting.

And…we want you to have some verses you can share with your children to explain what you believe and why.

That’s why we have provided the statement of faith that The MOM Initiative adheres to and why we recommend that parents plant those seeds of faith in their children’s hearts:

• We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. II Timothy 3:15-17.

• We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:4-6, Revelation 1:8, 18.

• We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. John 1:1-4; Matthew 1:23; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 & 4:15; Acts 1:11 & 2:22-24; I Corinthians 15:3-4.

• We believe that we are all sinners by nature and by choice and that salvation is only acquired by repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ resulting in the regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is the only way in which we can obtain eternal salvation. Titus 3:4-7; Luke 24:46-47; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Acts 4:12, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23.

• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who imparts spiritual gifts as He chooses and whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. Galatians 5:16-18; Romans 8:9.

• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. Revelation 20:11-15; I Corinthians 15:51-57.

• We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the Church. Ephesians 1:22-23; I Corinthians 12:12, 27.

• We believe that the ministry of evangelism, edification and exhortation are responsibilities of both the Church as a whole and individual Christians, as well. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 10:25; I Peter 3:15.

• We believe that God created males to be males and females to be females and that marriage is between a man and a woman as instituted by God and that marriage is the foundation for the family and to the relationship between a husband and wife is to be a picture of Christ and the church. (Genesis 2:18-25, Ephesians 5:22-33)

You may not agree. We respect your right to disagree. But The MOM Initiative is a Christian ministry and we have chosen to filter what we believe about current events, social, cultural and political issues through the Word of God because ultimately, one day, we will all stand before Him… and whether it is popular or not, we choose to believe His Word.

And now more than ever, we need to teach our children how to stand true to the Word of God, to have the courage to counter the culture, and to know what they believe and why.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? DO YOU HAVE A BELIEF STATEMENT YOU CAN USE TO TEACH YOUR CHILDREN?
