Stressed, Tired? Try Child’s Pose

Spread the love

Are you in the middle of your Christmas vacation? Or, just packing the car to head to grandparents?  Whether you’re up to your elbows in bows or boxing away the ornaments, preparing the umpteenth meal, tension between your shoulders can Try CHILD’S POSE! Position your body in this position every morning whether you “feel” like it or not.  Repeat as needed throughout the day. Experience immediate emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits.

1.  SPIRITUALLY

Begin your day in this pose and repeat throughout the day when you feel stressed, tired, confused, or frustrated.  Okay, you’re probably laughing.  That could be all day, right? Well, it’s not such a bad idea.  Roll out of bed and onto the floor. Begin your day in this position of worship and your spirit and mind will follow. If you’re too exhausted to think of what to pray, slowly pray the Lord’s Prayer.  Meditate on it and apply it what you’re facing.  Later, if you’re digging through the bottom of the closet helping your child find a shoe, get into child’s pose and pray.  Teach your child this pose. If you’re on the floor playing “blocks” or “cars,” roll onto your knees and breathe a prayer of thanks to God for your child and that they have eyes to see and ears to hear. If you’re wiping spilled milk off the floor, get into child’s pose and rest your weary heart in Jesus’s hands.  Thank Him for being with you and ask Him to give you energy for the day. When you “blow it,” slip away (if even to the bathroom) and bow before God and ask Him to forgive you. Although yoga claims this pose, Genesis through Revelation records saints and sinners bowed before God in worship, confession, and asking for help.

2.  PHYSICALLY

Bowing or “child’s pose,” as yoga refers to this position, has incredible health benefits.  According to CNY Healing Arts Wellness Center and Spa, it is useful in relieving back, shoulder, neck, and hip strain. Any of you have back, shoulder, neck, or hip strain? If so, this stretch is for YOU.
