What is a Mom Worth?

What is a MOM worth

If you’re a stay-at-home mom, what would you be paid, in today’s market, if you could actually be compensated for your services?

Salary.com surveyed 6,000 moms for their 2013 (latest results) questionnaire. They wanted to find out the top ten most time-consuming jobs a mother performs. Applying their salary data to each household chore, they factored in the number of hours spent on each chore, and then estimated the possible annual salary.

After calculating, they came up with the figures in these two infographics (used with permission):

Can you really put a price on moms? Aren’t they priceless? Some might say theirs isn’t or wasn’t. Not all moms are created equal. Well, yes, they are, but not all moms live up to being a good or great mom. Some have issues they cannot deal with and some just don’t know how to be a good mom. They did not have a good example.

Here’s Proverbs 31, the measuring stick for a good wife, updated (in Lynn-ese) for moms.

The Proverbs Mom…

* A really good mom, who can find one? She is worth her weight in lost socks.
* Sometimes, she works long hours and then comes home to work for her family. Sometimes, she homeschools all day and then works around the house.
* She sorts, washes, and folds the clothing for the family (and teaches the kids how to do it).
* She works hard with a good attitude. Most of the time.
* She rises early to fix breakfast for her family, pack lunches, and sees that they’re off to school on time. She cooks a healthy dinner for her family and elicits help cleaning up. Sometimes she gets it and sometimes she doesn’t.
* She drives her children where they need to go and, sometimes, they drive her nuts!
* On occasion, she yells when promised-to-clean-up messes are left undone. She loses her temper but readily asks for forgiveness.
* She often needs to frequent a drive-thru, giving food to her on-the-run, hungry family, no matter what the hour.
* She considers all the sales before she makes her purchases, and she uses her money wisely to take care of her family.
* She has no time to be idle. Her hands are kept busy helping with homework, putting bandaids on boo-boos, and wiping tears from her children’s cheeks.
* Her heart is kept busy trying to mend the hearts of her loved ones.
* She makes costumes for church, goes crazy helping with last minute school projects, and takes care of her children when they’re sick.
* She cares about those less fortunate than her family. She looks for ways to bless others.
* She dresses appropriately and looks presentable, most days.
* She studies her Bible and tries to live a godly life as an example for her children. She teaches them to trust the Lord.
* When she speaks, her wisdom is obvious. Usually.
* She watches over her children’s relationships and their school grades. She helps them to make right choices.
* She works hard, even late into the night and collapses into bed after a full day. She is occasionally exhausted and needs a mommy day out.
* She respects her husband, and she doesn’t speak ill of him when she is frustrated or cut him down when she is with others.
* Her children believe in her and rely on her and her husband praises her.
* She doesn’t compare herself to other moms but falls into this trap on occasion.
* She tries to remember she is accepted and loved just as she is but needs the reassurance of her husband and children.
* Occasionally, she needs a pat on the back, some acknowledge that she is an awesome mom, and her family appreciates all she does.
* She relies on the Lord to make it through each day.
