5 B’s to a Great Day…buzzz

Spread the love

Have you heard the buzz?  There are 5 Bees that can help you bee the mom you want to be!

BEE STILL (are you kidding?)

Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Psalm 4:4

Bee Still Bee still!  That’s a B that we often miss. We’re so busy we’re never still. And if we are, it’s when we fall into bed at night and drop off to sleep. However, every word in the Bible has a point and if we miss it, it hurts us. In this B, we’re told to be still and think about our day. Were we kind or short-tempered?  Thankful or had a pity party?  Meditate. Think. Talk to the Lord, “Was there something I could have done better? How can I more effectively discipline? How can I avoid repeating tomorrow what happened today?” Then listen for God’s quiet voice. Being still and meditating on your bed before you drop off to sleep and when you wake is important time with your Heavenly Father.

BEE THANKFUL

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, …and be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Thinking of what we don’t have is the norm. Being thankful for what we have requires discipline. What do we have to be thankful for? No one is in the hospital. My car works. We have beds to sleep on. Shelter from the storm. Food in the refrigerator. Clothes. Shoes. Eyes. Mouth. Hands. Go on….you can finish the list. Writing down what I’m thankful for is helpful. My favorite way to keep a thankful spirit is to record my prayer requests in my Prayers of My Heart journal; then highlight them as God answers.

BEE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT

Be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18

It’s interesting. The first part of this verse begins with, “And do not get drunk with wine, then we’re told what to do:  “be filled with God’s Spirit.”  The point is, in excess, the spirit of  alcohol changes how we think, talk, and act.  So does God’s Spirit. It changes us, but in the best of ways. A dab of alcohol to the tongue won’t change your countenance. Neither will a “quickie” verse. But soaking up a verse and praying, “God, fill me with Your Holy Spirit today so I think, act, and talk like You,” makes all the difference in the world!

BEE KIND

Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

One of the first things you may notice after asking God to fill you with His Holy Spirit is the opportunity to YIELD to Him. Christians have 2 natures: ours and Christ’s within us. Hard times and difficult people bring out one nature or the other. We may tend to react in our fleshly natural way. But since we’ve asked God to fill us with HIS SPIRIT, we have an opportunity to pause and yield to Him. We choose to BEE KIND.

BEE GLAD

Be glad in the Lord. Psalm 97:12

Have you ever thought, “I don’t have anything to be glad about?” God understands. That’s why He offers Himself. “Be glad in Me.  I know things are a bummer for you, but you have ME and they’re going to get better.” With God’s offer to be glad in Him, we can go through our day with a different countenance. We’re mindful we’re not alone. We have Him.

BEGIN BEEING THE MOTHER YOU WANT TO BEE!

HERE’S HOW

Step 1:  Print 4 copies of these 5 bee’s.

Step 2:  Place them on the refrigerator, your bathroom mirror, above the visor in your car, and on the nightstand beside your bed.

Step 3:  Read them whenever you are in that room or car.

Step 4:  Pray, “Heavenly Father, help me be still, be thankful, be glad in You, be kind, and be filled with Your Spirit.”

Step 5:  Memorize the 5 B’s.  Make a game out of remembering them by getting your children to join you in learning them.
