What Are You Shaping with Your Lips?

Spread the love

Lips. Mouth. Tongue.  Have you ever considered the power of your lips, mouth, and tongue?  The Bible addresses all three and tells us to use them wisely.

lips

Why is it important for moms to consider what our lips, tongue, and mouth are doing?

The words we shape with our lips often shape our lives and our children’s lives.

*Shape, “Maybe we never should have gotten married,” and the shape of your life may be vastly different from what you intended.

*Shape with your lips, “I need You, LORD,” and you’ll find heavenly help on the way.

Yes, what we shape with our mouths and the words we speak have daily and eternal consequences.

What words might you shape this week that would affect the shape of your life and your children?

Psalm 145:18 states, “The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.”

That means we can use our lips to shape heart felt prayers to the Lord.

This week you’re invited to shape the following prayers with me each morning. Print the following. Each day, read God’s attribute and verse. Then, call on the LORD in prayer. He’s near and wants to help you and your family. Form words with your mouth that will shape your future and the future of your family.

Day 1:  The LORD is Our Maker, Psalm 95:6

“Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.”

LORD, You are our Maker. You made my spouse and children.

Without You, we would not exist. Forgive me when I ignore You.

I pray my spouse and children will kneel before You and acknowledge You as their LORD and Maker.

Day 2: The LORD is an Offering and Sacrifice, Ephesians 5:2

“Walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”

LORD, help my spouse, children, and me live sacrificially, as a fragrant aroma to You.

Day 3: The LORD is the One Who Opens My Lips, Psalm 51:15

“O LORD, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise.”

Heavenly Father, as the psalmist prayed, I pray. Open MY lips, that MY mouth may declare Your praise.

Open my spouse’s lips to declare Your praise. Open my children’s lips to declare Your praise.

Day 4: The LORD is One Mediator, 1 Timothy 2:5

“There is one God, and one Mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

Heavenly Father, I believe and confess that Christ alone is Mediator between You and me.

I pray my spouse and children believe and confess Christ alone is Mediator and Savior.

Day 5: The LORD is Peace, 2 Thessalonians 3:16

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance.”

Heavenly Father, You are the Lord of peace. Turn my children’s and loved one’s faces to You  so they experience Your peace.

Day 6: The LORD is My Portion, Psalm 119:57

“The LORD is my portion; I have promised to keep Your words.”

Heavenly Father, You are my portion. I pray my spouse and children seek You, the portion of life that is glorious and eternal.

Day 7: The LORD is Powerful, Daniel 2:20

“Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him.”

LORD, I pray that my spouse and children bless Your name and never use Your name as a curse word or in vain.

Rather, may they honor Your name, hold it high, and know Your power.

Yes, the words we form with our lips have consequences, both temporal and eternal. We can influence the shape of our children’s lives and our spouse’s life in a positive way by forming words of prayer in accordance with Scripture and God’s divine nature.
