What Happens in MOM Groups?

Spread the love

MOMGroups

Don’t you just love that pic! Younger moms, older moms and moms somewhere in between coming together to help each other along the way.

MOM Groups! It’s a place where moms gather and grow together! It’s a safe place to let your hair down, share your struggles, and find the joy of community that comes with doing life together!

It’s the place where older moms encourage younger moms and younger moms encourage older moms and everyone becomes BETTER TOGETHER

That’s the way it’s supposed to be, isn’t it?

Next week I’ll be at a couple different churches speaking to ministry leaders and sharing about how they can begin mentoring moms in their churches and in their community.

And I would LOVE to talk to your women’s ministry leader about how YOU can weave mentoring moms into the fabric of your ministry and how YOU can make mentoring missional and impact your community and this culture for Christ!

If you’d like to know more, please email me!

Because mentoring moms makes a difference in the lives of all involved. Moms mold the heart of the next generation, so when we minister to the moms, we minister to the children. It’s that simple.

Here are a few testimonies of those who are part of the MOM Group of Marshall County (w/about 40 members)…

** I joined the MOM Group of Marshall County because I was interested in growing closer to the Lord, making new friends, and enjoying adult conversations. 🙂 I enjoy spending time with this group of women, and have already been really blessed and encouraged. ~ Carolyn

** Hi my name is Alicia I’m a mother of a one year daughter. I moved to Kentucky for better life for my family. While I was here I started to look for things to do. I felt God brought me all the way here for something that I was lacking. I never really went to church I always felt a connection but never attended. Now that I’m a mom I want to raise my daughter with God in our home as well as her heart. I started to go to story time in the local library meet mom’s and kept looking for more things to do and one night ran into the MOM Group of Marshall County on Facebook. Jennie was also sharing it on the MOPS group page, about the MOM Group of Marshall County. So I went and I love it and really feels home. To bond with all these beautiful woman though my journey as and mom….. I knew it all happened for a reason. ~ Alicia

** I like MOM Groups because no matter how hard we strive to be that perfect mom, there’s always going to be them hidden imperfections in us all. This is a time we can all come together and talk about all of our wonderful imperfections through God’s eyes, or should I say perfections in His eyes. MOM Groups helps us learn we are not alone in this world, no matter how hard or bad things get. We have a whole new family to turn to in the good and bad things in motherhood. The best thing is we don’t have to hide behind any mask, door or cover cause they all understand. The wonderful life as a mom, friend, teacher and most of all an imperfect mother sent from a wonderful God! ~ Tracy

** When I moved here I was disappointed I couldn’t find a moms group, because I attended one in Texas and it was helped me through a very difficult time. Only groups I found were in surrounding cities at least 30 minutes away, and that is when God said start one. So I obeyed the call and it has been a wonderful journey. To be able to share with one another our challenges, make connections, and have time to get in God’s Word is a blessing. ~ Jennie

And here’s a few other testimonies from those who have been involved in other MOM Groups…

** Your book (The Making of a Mom) changed my whole perspective of motherhood, family and relationship! Thank you for it! I am where I am today in my relationship with God, my husband and kids with a great influence from it. I was a mess when I had my baby. 11 years difference and learning how to control stress and having priorities is amazing. I’m still a work in progress but when I have those moments I carry your book with my bible everywhere. ~ Sylma

** The Making of a Mom made beginning a MOM Group easy. It’s the best mentoring resource I’ve ever seen for mentoring moms! ~ Katie

** I was struggling in my marriage and I was struggling as a mom. Feeling like a failure in every area. But when I joined the MOM Group, I realized I wasn’t alone anymore and that others could help me with what I was going through. It was just what I needed and I didn’t even realize it! ~ Nancy

  • A MOM Group is for MOMS of ALL AGES & ALL STAGES of MOTHERHOOD.

  • A MOM Group can be 1 on 1, a small group of moms and mentors meeting together, or a room full of moms and mentors meeting together.

  • You can meet in a church or home weekly, biweekly or monthly.

  • You can meet as a Sunday School class for moms or single moms.

  • You can meet as a MOM Group similar to how MOPs meets.

  • You can meet in your home, in a church, in a park, at the local coffee shop, at Chic-fil-a, or wherever it works best for you and your group.

  • You can make mentoring missional by mentoring moms alongside of the local crisis pregnancy center, a homeless shelter, the juvenile shelter or prison, an urban community, a low income apartment complex, the local high school, or wherever moms can be found.

  • You can tailor a MOM Group to YOUR volunteer base and to YOUR available skills set.

  • You can incorporate practical skills to enhance your group depending upon your available volunteers and skills.
