Every Christian Family is a Miracle

God has been opening my eyes and giving me a greater understanding of what it means to bring Him glory. I have been struck over and over by this one theme and how it should dominate every area of life: My first priority and highest calling is to bring glory to God. I should be pointing others to God and the gospel in all that I do. That is what I am here for! How is that done? I am continuing to learn what that means, but God enlightened me a little more as I was reading through a book …

Emotions, Hormones, and Sin

Ever since my children were small I’ve noticed that it can be easy to make excuses for sinful behavior. It wasn’t always in the way I would have liked, but I …

The Sprinkler and the Two Year Old

Our church has a wonderful group of young moms that meet once a month.  It’s a group that is led by our pastor’s wife, and a few of us “older moms” come as well. We have a morning of sharing and praying, and the older moms take turns sharing each month.  The young moms have a chance to ask questions, share concerns, share what God is teaching them, and since many of them are pregnant…most of the time there is  a lot of crying! Those pregnancy hormones take over the room, and we all sit there and cry…and then laugh …

Some Thoughts for Young Moms

I have the privilege of being around quite a few young moms. I will never forget one particular visit. We invited a family with  5 children to come for dinner. The ages of the children  range  from just a few months old to ten years old.The baby hung out and was happy watching all the activity. The one year old ran around from one person to the other melting all our hearts! She especially liked my son and kept plopping down in his lap! The two year old boy was constantly moving!  I personally have a soft spot in my heart for …
