Election Day

Election Day and empowering, enduring truths for moms

Spread the love

Every mom can be empowered by earthly elections. While the whole world isn’t voting for a leader today, it’s Election Day in the United States, and much of the world waits to see the outcome. No one watches our individual responses as closely our children. No matter the outcome in our process of choosing a president or electing a leader, today is a day to model strength and faith for our children.

Election Day

Future leaders learn from us today.  Some moms will balance toddlers on their hip to watch them cast their vote. Others will snap pictures outside of polling stations where votes were cast for the first time.  As generations pass the baton of stewardship on election day, we teach our children how to choose and follow leaders.  The leaders of tomorrow absorb what we mutter as we scan the headlines, listen to conversations in the checkout line, or check the channels for election results.  As we cast our votes and respond to the results, our children watch and learn.

The outcome of today’s elections will impact our family life in some way. We don’t know how or when. Since a mom’s heart and mind carry her hopes for her children’s future, such uncertainty has the potential to make a mom …. well, panic. At the very least, on election day worry creeps in. At our best, election day motivates us to pray.

Today is a day for looking to empowering, enduring truths for election day.

Empowering, enduring truths for election day

  • God is on the throne and He’s not going anywhere. God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.” (Psalm 47:8)
  • God is in control of our future, nationally and personally. “O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.” (2 Chronicles 20:6)
  • God is more concerned for our family’s future than we are. ” … to give you a future and a hope.” (from Jeremiah 29:11)
  • God is working out His plans, including allowing people to lead. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (from Romans 13:1-2)
  • God is fully aware of your feelings and He’s listening to our prayers.Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7 – NLT)

Today is another day of unfolding God’s sovereign plan for us. Nothing has happened or will happen outside of His understanding, permission or control. Our countries, communities, and kiddos are still all in God’s care today as they were yesterday and will be tomorrow.

Moms today have every reason to be confident and secure as we “smile at the future.” (Proverbs 31:25) Every mom can be empowered by earthly elections.

May God’s unchanging, enduring truth empower and encourage us as we respond to this day under the watchful eyes and attentive ears of our children.
