Each footprint tells a story of a mom who went before us. Secrets of the matriarchal kind that whisper to our hearts, cheering us on, echoing hard-fought lessons, their very dust swirling in our faces. We strain to see through the hazy distance of time, the secrets their lives teach us.
Secrets that speak from the heart of one mom to another. From them we discover what we should be doing… and what we shouldn’t. Principles of the general-kind. The ones that work for us all. But not the kind that make mommas think their own unique family fits into some kind of cookie-cutter formula.
The foundational kind that reminds mothers that only God can help them raise each God-given creation to become who He created them to be. Men and women who embrace their own callings and giftedness, yet live by the firm foundation of life-giving principles.
Motherhood. It’s so easy to get lost in the ordinary days of mundane and menial. Easy to lose your way when you sometimes feel like you’re losing your mind.
The glitter beckons hearts to a life lived on the stage, with selfies going viral and the deep-down desire to want to be known… to want to be significant… to busy ourselves with the seeking of the extraordinary, while the ordinary unknowingly – even unintentionally – fills our hearts with purpose.
That real, deep down, memory-making, character-building, reason for living kind of purpose.
Our prayer is that God has used this #MATRIARCHS Bible Study to speak purpose to your ordinary days. To remind you of how to live and how not to live. To call you to embrace these days of laundry, dishes, diapers and doctor appointments, because these are the makings of the extraordinary and beautiful.
We’ve prayed for you, dear ones. That the lives of the mother’s who have gone before you will speak to the mom that you are today. Let them. The wisdom won through the lives they lived and the footprints they left is worth the time.
