A Widow’s Plea

Spread the love

TMIJanf-1

I have been asked, by a very special woman to share a bit of life experience knowledge with you that I hope and pray you will take to heart. Take a deep breath, lift up a “help me to hear” prayer and read on dear sister.

Are you weary today? I know you have had lots of “to do’s” – that is a given for any mom.

Has it been a long week of caring for the needs of your family and the endless upkeep of your home?

Did you have those MOMents were you just wanted to scream and run away? The frustration, the unending needs, the having so much to do that you didn’t have time to even take a breath.

I met someone today…a mom, who is alone with her children. Her husband unexpectedly died two years ago.

It is interesting to me that our conversation was filled with her heartfelt plea that moms would understand that they spend far too much time doing things that don’t really matter.   Her heart is to let the rest of us know that the time we have each day would be better spent with our family rather than busying ourselves creating the “perfect” meal or the “perfect” home.

She wished she had back the hours spent on such things so that there were more memories of “being.”

Would you listen to the heartfelt plea that she asked me to share with you? Would you stop and consider the hours in your day and how many of them are spent interacting with your family? Put at the very top of your “to do” list – be the mom.

Though you don’t know her name, would you pray for her and the other widows out there who are trying to do it all alone?

And tomorrow, or next week, when the tyranny of the urgent tempts you to stress over the small things, choose to not “go there” and instead squeeze those you love a bit tighter and lift up another prayer for the widows amongst us – and reach out to one.

Mom Challenge: What busy-ness could you choose to “let go of” that would allow you more time spent with those you love?

TraceyI am crazy in love with my hubby, we have been married 26 years, our babies are now teens, chasing after God, and are a constant source of inspiration to me in the way they live their lives! My girl is as comfortable wearing mud as make up – but her beauty shines through either way and speaking into the lives of younger girls fuels the light within. My boy is compassionate and outdoors always active, quick to laugh and quick to help. He has dubbed his group of friends the “roof crashers” – sa-weet! (Proverbs 24:3-4)
